Data Processing
The initial element of processing performs radar data calibration, which corrects for all known hardware parameters. The radar signal is processed then correlated to the GPS position data to generate the 2D and 3D image. Mirage has created sophisticated data processing algorithms that synthesize the chirps returned from the radar to account for radar signal variations that occur due to anomalies in the terrain, known hazards and the soil.
Because the Mirage GPSAR system is airborne, the GPR antenna can be positioned to ensure the signals are the most suitable for a particular terrain or underground hazard situation. Additionally the signal algorithms can be customized to account for known or modeled ground properties as well as target scattering. This ensures a true 3D image exists with minimal false positives.
SAR Image Generation
After the algorithms are applied to the data, the image is then visualized using a variety of standard 3D visualization software products.
Mirage Systems is currently developing near real-time imagining algorithms and a high-speed parallel processing system that will enable rapid processing of large volumes of GPR data to allow efficient processing of survey regions over wide areas.
